Tom Hardy is seriously bulking up for his new ‘Venom’ movie role

Tom Hardy is no stranger to bulking up for films. He has done it for the likes of Bronson, Batman, and Warrior, where he had to bulk up drastically in preparation for the films.

This time, he’ll be taking on the role of Spiderman’s nemesis, Venom in the eponymously named 2018 movie.

Filming is currently underway in Atlanta and Hardy is reportedly training up to five times a week, sometimes twice a day – in MMA to prepare for the role. In addition to probably a massive diet, Tom has been doing boxing, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu work to get hench.

His trainers, Nathan Jones (Pro MMA fighter) and Mark Mene, haven’t held back from getting the actor into shape. Mark says:

“Training Tom Hardy, what I found surprising was actually his humility, he was very humble, down to earth. And you’re able to communicate with him. I’m impressed, he’s definitely going to live up to the character, because, you know, he’s dealing with a guy that turns into an 8ft tall beast.”

Tom Hardy has been working on his jiu-jitsu alongside the Royal Marines in an attempt to help them bring attention to a cause near and dear to their heart.

The Venom film will be the first in several films set in Sony’s new Spider-Man universe, which is being rebooted this year for the second time with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Venom, is the comic-book equivalent of a movie boogeyman like Freddy Krueger – he’s meant to be terrifying and villainous, but readers thought he was so cool that eventually, the symbiote became less obviously evil

The release date is not expected in the US until October 5 next year.
