Hairdresser uses fire, swords and claw-like scissors to achieve “perfect” hairstyles

Alternative style from the Spanish hairdresser provides the use of samurai swords, blowtorches and “scissors” for cutting his clients’ hair.

Alberto Olmedo, the owner of the hairdressing salon in Madrid, admits that his methods are “a bit medieval”, but claims that this is the only way to achieve “mathematically exact” sameness of both sides of the haircut.

“Hairdressers usually cut one side, and then the other, and one side is always a bit different from the other,” he says.

“The only way to achieve an exact mathematical match is to cut both sides simultaneously.”

Olmedo usually cuts his clients’ hair using a blowtorch at a temperature of 1,300 C (2372 F), to shape a do.

He also favours a pair of claw-like scissor tools which fit on his fingers like Edward Scissorhands meets Wolverine.

“Sometimes you have to use a bit of your imagination to get positive results,” he adds.
