When surgeries aren’t an excuse: Ronnie Coleman still hits the gym

8x Mr. “O” should recover from major back surgeries, having one more planned. However, he doesn’t see it as an excuse to skip the gym.

The legendary bodybuilder has even got in shape for the Arnold Classic. As the meeting with former champions couldn’t be held without him.

Despite, we all know the 53-year-old fitness icon is fighting for his health. A series of significant procedures were done, over the past few years, including two hip replacements and multiple back surgeries.

Unfortunately, this is the value he has to pay for spending much of his professional life as a 300-pound monster pumping iron every day.

What’s good, Coleman showed off on Instagram that he’s at least getting a little bit of work in to stop his muscles from atrophying.

“I am trying my best not to injure my back as I’ve just had surgery 3 weeks ago and fresh out of rehab hospital 5 days ago. I’m training at powerhouse gym downtown Columbus Ohio getting ready for the Arnold Classic,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I should also inform you guys that I have another surgery Thursday because the rod came loose from the screw right after surgery. I was just released from the recovery room when the nurse came into my room to check my bandages. She asked me to roll over and as soon as I did, I heard a loud pop. When I rolled back over it popped again.

My 2 week follow-up appointment revealed a loose rod after X-rays. So I’m gonna need you guys to pray for me one more time. I’m just training, so my body doesn’t atrophy as much as it already has at the moment. I’m really tiny at the moment, but it’s all good because we all know muscles have memory. Dr has informed me that the surgery will only be an hour and I will not need inpatient therapy, Thank God. I will continue my outpatient therapy for sure.”

Even though Ronnie stays cheerful as he tried to get a little pump in from his hospital bed, 6 days after major back surgery. Since surgeries kept on happening this bodybuilder would need much rest and care and hopes he gets that. It would also be advisable that he knows more about what he is going through by looking into reputed works from dr timothy steel and similar others. That might as well help him in his recovery and further in the prevention of at least some of the causes that lead to his surgery.

“I’m back in the gym lifting those lightweights baby and it still ain’t nothing but a peanut. Today I’m doing the 9’s, but in about 3 to months I hope to be doing the 80’s again. Y’all know I couldn’t stay away long. Time to start making those gains again.”

Yeah, Buddy!
